What is a Glass Painting Workshop?
As a Glass Painting Facilitator who has facilitated many glass painting workshops for beginners, I’m often asked the same question. I’ve written this guide to help you decide whether a workshop is the right fit for you, whether you’re completely new or just curious to try something creative.
What happens during a session
I arrive about twenty minutes before the workshop starts so that I can set up. Everything that is needed for the workshop will be set out on the table before people arrive.
- I will begin by welcoming everyone followed by a brief introduction.
- Next I will start by going through the items on the table in front of people explaining what they are and how we use them, step by step.
- I will show and demonstrate how to place a design into the glass and how then to outline the design onto the outside of the glass
- Next I will demonstrate how to apply the paint itself onto the glass.
- There will always be a choice of different designs for each theme in every workshop.
- You can select your own colours from a big selection of coloured glass paints.
- You can stop and ask me a question at any point during the session.
- We can take a 10 minute break within the time allowed if needed.
A glass painting workshop creates a safe, relaxed, non judgemental space where you can switch off from the outside world whilst creating a beautiful hand painted piece of glass, to have as a momentum and a physical reminder of your creative journey.

Why people love Glass Painting Workshops
Relaxation
Glass painting is a mindful activity. It captivates your mind and holds your attention, so that you focus less on your worries, anxieties, stress or busy hectic lifestyles. It allows you to feel relaxed, calm, excited and confident in a safe non-judgmental space.
Creativity
This creative workshop allows you to express yourself by turning intangible thoughts and emotions into something physical like a hand painted tea light jar, themed glass, decorative vase or painting. Each participant leaves with their own hand painted glass piece, designed and painted by them as a momentum and a physical reminder of their experience.
Social Experience
Group activities like glass painting workshops reduce loneliness and build supportive networks. Increasing social connections, bringing people together, providing opportunities for positive feedback, building relationships and trust among participants.
This creative activity allows individuals to communicate and express emotions that might otherwise be difficult to verbalize, enhancing mutual understanding. These workshops are a fun, supportive, safe space for participants to come together, to learn a new skill or hobby, to upskill, to create something new, to connect with like minded people in a supportive positive setting.
